The Late Bloomer aka Agave Americana

The Late Bloomer aka Agave Americana

$750.00

Captured at the end of it's life cycle, this beautiful yet common agave is known mostly by the name "century plant". It produces a tall, branched stalk adorned with yellow blossoms, which can reach a height of 8-9 m. After flowering, the plant dies but produces adventitious shoots from the base, allowing its growth to continue. It's stunning gray-green leaves measure 3–5 ft in length, each with a prickly margin and a heavy spike at the tip that can pierce deeply.

Painted on two canvases as a 'diptych', this painting captures the beauty in the lifecycle of this stunning if often overlooked plant, and highlights that age means nothing when it comes to beauty.

Acrylic on two canvases, each measuring 12"w X 24" h, overall size 24" x 24"
